The 60th edition of National Traffic Day runs until November 25, with the motto Love with road safety.
In Colón several activities were carried out, among them those of the Transit Interest Circle of the René Fraga Moreno primary school, where pioneers and teachers were congratulated for extra-teaching work related to accident prevention.
They also included courses and traffic practices in work centers dedicated to passenger transportation, cargo services and the Medical Emergency System.
At the closing ceremony of the day, held at the Tranzmec Base Business Unit, First Sub-Officer Aramís Matos Suárez, Traffic Officer in the territory, together with Sub-Lieutenant José Alberto Rodríguez Galindo, head of the Motorized Group , reported that the accident rate decreased compared to the same date last year, although deaths increased.
He highlights that elderly people were involved in accidents on the road, which calls for redoubling the attention of drivers and pedestrians in compliance with Traffic Law 119.
During the day, they recognized drivers with 5, 10 and 15 years of age without traffic accidents, prominent entities and guests at the provincial event, to be held on November 23 in the municipality of Cárdenas. (ALH)
