The El Eclipse bar-viewpoint in Varadero hosted the Images Between Bridges 2024 event, sponsored by the Matanzas Chapter of the Cuban Society of Imaging, the Provincial Council of Scientific Health Societies and the Dr. Francisco Domínguez Roldán Honorary Chair of the University of Medical Sciences of Matanzas. The space, which also hosted the II Workshop «Innovation in Radiology», focused the debate on the main challenges that the specialty has in terms of solving long-standing problems; as well as the harmful resistance to change that prevails in the sector.
Dr. Víctor Guillermo Ferreira Moreno, president of the Matanzas Chapter of the Cuban Society of Imaging, referred in the central words of the meeting to how true innovation starts from a change of mentality and not precisely from a technological change.
For his part, the director of the Center for Advanced and Sustainable Manufacturing Studies at the University of Matanzas, Ramón Quiza, addressed in his speech the different applications of artificial intelligence in the field of Radiology, as well as the advances in this regard in Matanzas and the country.
There was also space for students: Amisadai Tremols Mesa gave a report on the I Summer Course on Imaging, held last August; while Shania Naranjo Lima referred to the work of the Student Scientific Society of Imaging, the first of its kind in the country, of which she is president.
The activity concluded with a display of the exhibition «Renacer», an initiative of Dr. Alety Anett García Reyes that illustrates, through generative art, the transformation and resilience of women with breast cancer; very much in tune with the topics addressed in the discussion.
