Institutional evaluation is being carried out at the University of Matanzas

The National Accreditation Board belonging to the Ministry of Higher Education began the Institutional Evaluation process of the University of Matanzas.

With the objective of evaluating compliance with the quality standards that govern higher education in Cuba, the commission, chaired by Doctors of Science Martha Esther Novoa Hernández and Alina Forrellat Barrios, will remain until June 14 and will carry out a broad work program.

After the presentation and welcome of the visitors and invited organizations, Dr.C Leyda Finalé de la Cruz, rector of the higher education institution, presented the self-evaluation report that summarizes the results of the work of the University of Matanzas during the last five years.

Heads and directors of Matanzas institutions such as the Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric Power Plant, the provincial Delegation of Citma and the Petroleum Drilling and Extraction Company of the Center, recognized the work they do with the Matanzas university.

The culture of quality management and human resources, undergraduate training, research and postgraduate training, the state of the infrastructure to guarantee the living conditions of students and workers, and social recognition of the teaching staff are the variables evaluated during the accreditation process.

The program includes group interviews with students and graduates, exchanges with doctors and teaching staff, as well as visits to base units and work settings. Participation in exhibitions, sports activities and others are part of the process that includes meetings with student and political organizations of the center.

The member of the Executive Bureau of the Provincial Committee of the Party, Yosveny Verdeal Castellanos, and the Governor of the territory, Marieta Poey Zamora, present at the meeting, recognized the performance of the Matanzas University that works for the excellence of knowledge. (ALH)
