The cooperative and peasant movement of the province of Matanzas, as well as other organizations and institutions of the territory, joined in the creation of a suitcase with donations for the victims of hurricane Oscar in eastern Cuba.
The President of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP) in the main municipality, Arasay Rojas López, informed the Matanzas press of the willingness of the 1,425 associates of the territory to collaborate with the victims of the cyclone. The 7 cooperatives of the territory receive donations of clothing, footwear and food for the affected families.
The President of the Victoria de Girón Agricultural Production Cooperative, Arnaldo Hechavarría Rivera, commented on the collaboration of his unit with the territories affected by Oscar, while he delivered a batch of donations.
Other entities also joined the solidarity effort, such as the workers and students of the University of Matanzas and the members of the Union of Cuban Journalists in the territory. (ALH)
