Within the framework of the celebration of World Environment Day, a Workshop was held in the municipality of Jagüey Grande, based at the Office of the City Historian, which was attended by representatives of various agencies and organizations of the territory and where those elements that are part of the natural heritage of the town.
The importance of the trees to which the name of the municipality is due, the presence of more than one hundred caves that also gave the name of Cuevitas in the past to the town of Agramonte, and the existence of ceibas from the 19th century, carob trees, ojos de water and quarries.
In the same way, the main articles of the Constitution of the Republic of Cuba regarding the protection of the environment and how much remains to be done in the territory to contribute to its care were analyzed, and the documentary El enigma del molino was screened.
During the Workshop, Lázaro Morales Hernández was recognized for his outstanding work in terms of science and environmental care in the municipality of Jagüey.
The workshop on the environment was attended by Humberto Rodríguez Hernández, historian of the municipality; Silvia Esther Cepero Placeres, head of the Disaster Reduction Risk Center; Alexis Álvarez Ojeda, Civil Defense specialist and other representatives of institutions in the territory.
