The headquarters of the provincial branch of the Cuban Association of Artisans and Artists (ACAA) in Matanzas, hosted the press conference of the International Photography Festival and Colloquium «FotoCanímar Matanzas 2024».
The president of the event commented on the program to be held from November 6 to 9, in addition to the workshops, conferences and book presentations scheduled for the first half of that month. Social issues such as war, migration, women’s rights and nature will be presented by the photographers participating in the event.
Among the activities to highlight are the Workshop «Between the common and the personal», Cartografiando, Carma Casulá (Spain) at the Teatro Mirón Cubano on November 4 and 5 at 9:30 AM; the Panel «Evolution and permanence of photography in Matanzas», by Yamila Gordillo, Mireya Cabrera, Helga Montalván and Ramón Pacheco at the ACAA on November 6 at 9:30 AM.
The Inauguration of the personal exhibition «Long Journey», by Nuria López Torres (Spain) in the Sala White on November 7 at 2:00 pm is also included.
Various state and private organizations such as UNEAC, AHS, Mirón Cubano, Fettuccine, the Provincial Directorate of Culture, ACAA, Hotel Velasco, the Office of the City Conservator, the Firefighters Museum and the Spanish Embassy are part of the sponsorship and organization of the event.
Present were the Honorary President, Ramón Pacheco Salazar; the president of the Organizing Committee, Osbel Marrero Acosta; the president of the Provincial Council of Performing Arts (CPAP), Marisley Martínez Junco, and a representation of Matanzas photographers. (ALH)
