Selva del Mar is the most recent project in which specialists from the Matanzas Architecture and Engineering Projects Company are working to materialize a new hotel in the main sun and beach destination in Cuba.
Jovana Ung Crespo, general designer, comments that the idea is developed on a narrow plot with the thinnest side facing the beach. It is about taking advantage of the benefits of the land and then it rises to develop the 312 rooms, with 8 with direct views of the sea. There is also a total respect for the environment, with views to all exteriors.
The entity works in collaboration with Arcos Varadero to carry out this endeavor. Norbys de Armas Santos, in charge of the project, explains that they work from the concept to the completion and start-up of the work. The joint work between designers and contractors has had good results and has been reflected in the results of the works completed to date.
The biggest challenge lies in the fact that it is a 100% national project from the conceptual idea to execution and start-up. «Projects have been imported for a long time and one only has to do the executive, so it is to present our ideas on a plane that should be purely ours, that in the end we are going to take it until it is launched and then we will see how satisfied it is the public».
Selva del Mar tests, once again, the ability of architects and engineers to innovate and take advantage of spaces in order to provide a modern and attractive tourist product in Varadero, Cuba’s main sun and beach destination. (ALH)
