“Nothing can deny the advances that we have achieved in terms of equality and social inclusion in more than 60 years of Revolution, which have led us to be protagonists and direct beneficiaries of programs aimed at protecting health, maternity, the production of food, promotion to management and decision-making positions, and much more.»
This was stated by the secretary of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) in Jagüey Grande, Yanet Fernández Rodríguez, when evaluating the work of the organization, just days after celebrating International Women’s Day.
Among the activities that are carried out to entertain the celebration of March 8 in the municipality, the meetings with founders and young people of the FMC – Contigo youth fronts, exchanges with health brigade members and social workers, as well as the execution of voluntary work based on of the sanitization of the neighbourhoods.
«Special attention is given to districts that are undergoing transformations, where the FMC plays a leading role,» said Fernández Rodríguez.
The tribute to the women of Jagüey also includes acts of young people arriving, recognition of workers of the Municipal Psychopedagogical Center, and the realization of Special Morning Meetings in workplaces.
«We recently participated in a simple but emotional activity to highlight the work of women linked to the Commerce, Gastronomy and Services sector,» she added.
The secretary of the FMC in Jagüey Grande, Yanet Fernández Rodríguez pondered the role of women from Jagüey in all spheres of life, for which there are no impossible and they demonstrate it daily.
«A palpable example is that there are two Marianas from these times who are candidates for deputies to the Cuban Parliament for this territory.»
Every March 8 the world celebrates International Women’s Day. In Cuba, the participation of women in the economy, culture, politics and science has contributed notably to the development of society. (ALH)
