Low temperatures in Matanzas with the first cold front

The first cold front of the winter season left notable minimum temperatures in several municipalities in the province of Matanzas, according to Marixma Millares, director of the territory’s Meteorological Center.

Jovellanos reported 11.8 degrees Celsius, Indio Hatuey 12.4 and Unión de Reyes 13.1. The rest of the municipalities contributed values between 14 and 22 degrees Celsius, which means cool temperatures for this time of year after months of intense heat.

The specialist adds that the forecast for today is for partly cloudy skies with medium and high clouds that can cause rain in the geography of Matanzas. There is also a chance of a shower, mainly on the North Coast. Maximum temperatures in the afternoon will range from 26 to 29 degrees Celsius. At night, ambient temperatures between 18 and 21 degrees Celsius are expected.

The cold front is almost stationary over the eastern region, so winter conditions will persist in the Matanzas territory. In addition, the province is under the influence of a migratory anticyclone with a cooler and more stable air mass. (ALH)
