The Law on Food Sovereignty, Food Security and Nutritional Education, which considers the local sphere and the producer as a fundamental link, is going through its implementation stage, and in the municipality of Colón its progress was analyzed with producers and managers of the agricultural sector.
The implementation in the twenty-one agricultural programs was the focus of the exchange, chaired by authorities from the Party and the Government and directed by Santiago Pérez Castellanos, head of the Working Group of the Vice Prime Minister that deals with agricultural activity.
Non-compliance in pig programs with few alternatives to guarantee animal feed, insufficient identified areas to grow in rice production, delays in the multiplier center of small livestock species and non-payments to milk producers were critical.
Colón appears as the third municipality with the highest incidence in Matanzas in criminal manifestations related to the cattle mass, for which the action of the peasant surveillance brigades, the security and protection bodies in each entity and the owners of the private sector were analyzed. .
In the debate, a call was made to reverse the situation to cover the food demand of the more than 69,000 Colombians. (ALH)
