As departure point to discover the human essence, the piece Km 0 expose disturbing histories of five man own bodies were desecrated in the childhood and with opens scars they had to fight the adult life.

The staging of the Argos Teatro ensemble is based on the socio-anthropogenic research carried out for years by professor and researcher Julio César González Pagés, reflected in the book Pingueros en La Habana, which addresses sexist prejudices, the sex market, homophobia and the prostitution of young men in the capital.

Liliana Lam, writer and playwright in charge of the production, highlighted the relevance of this study and referred to the long creative process that involved visiting the places where young people practiced prostitution in the capital.

«We were able to verify that all the stories refer to people of bone meat. Many come to that life because of childhood traumas, because they were violated in their childhood or adolescence. Some also adopt it as a personal decision, but others once they arrive they don’t know how to get out», «said Lam.

Kilometer Zero becomes the focus of attention towards male prostitution, an underhanded phenomenon that exists and lacerates.

«The theater has that power to warn about a problem in society. It is a vulnerable community with rights, people who also need attention from the institutions and the social system,» considered the playwright.

The two productions of the Argos Teatro group in the cinema of the city of Cárdenas left a window open to the deepening of the subject due to the overwhelming nature of each story, masterfully interpreted by the cast. (ALH)
