The collective of the Juan Gualberto Gómez International Airport in Varadero proposes several projects associated with food production and renewable energy for 2025.
“Among the projections for this year we have a six-hectare farm in El Valle, for various crops, where we have already planted bananas and coffee. We are also promoting meat production; we are linking up with the Matanzas Pork Company,” said José Antonio García Manso, General Director of the Juan Gualberto Gómez International Airport.
The construction of a photovoltaic park stands out among the main tasks of the air terminal to contribute to the country’s development.
“We have a one mega photovoltaic park ready, which is the maximum demand of this air terminal, which is going to be one of the most important issues within the projections towards 2030 that the country has with respect to renewable energy. Besides the fact that it is one of the main centers in the province that will be self-sufficient in the prioritized schedules”, García Manso adds.
This investment is prioritized as part of the country’s policy of betting on the use of renewable energy sources to maintain the vitality of different services.
