Union of Cuban Journalists in Matanzas recognizes Yumurino reporters

“The newspaper is a sword and its hilt is reason. Only the good should wield it, and it should not be for the extermination of men, but for the necessary triumph over those who oppose their freedom and progress.” With this Martian premise, the provincial executive of the Union of Cuban Journalists in Matanzas recognized the work of the Yumurino reporters during the year 2023.

The member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and first secretary in the province, Susely Morfa González, the deputy and governor, Mario Sabines Lorenzo and the president of the Upec in Matanzas, Pedro Rizo Martínez, presented the 60th Anniversary Medal of the Union of Journalists of Cuba, for the work of life, to Wilfredo Alayón Pérez, Ana Valdés Portillo, Ramón Rosendo Pacheco Salazar, Fernando Valdés Fré, María Elena Bayón Mayor, Sergio López Herrera, Juan Antonio Seguí Morales and Dagoberto Arestuche Fernández.

The prestigious Annual Nelson Barrera Journalism Award was presented in the different categories. The occasion was opportune to announce the winners of the Celestino García Franco provincial journalism contest in the categories of printed journalism, radio, television, hypermedia and the occasional theme dedicated on this occasion to the 330th anniversary of the Athens of Cuba.
