As part of Cuba’s day in solidarity with Puerto Rico, leaders of the Hostosiano National Independence movement, from the Puerto Rican island, arrived at the Pedro Albizu Campos primary school, in the town of Alacranes.

The Puerto Ricans exchanged with teachers and students about the educational process and the activities carried out at the institution, and a range of cultural proposals enlivened the day.

In the center they referred to the historical dates in which they remember the martyr of the school, of Puerto Rican origin. The pioneers welcomed the visitors with identity initiatives linked to the relations between the nations of Cuba and Puerto Rico.

“An important event has always been visiting the Pedro Albizu Campos school and it fills us with joy to be able to do so,” said Carlos Díaz Vega, organizational secretary of the Hostosiano National Independence Movement.

During the meeting, the Puerto Ricans demanded that the United States end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States and declare Puerto Rico as a sovereign nation.

One of the priorities of the Hostosian National Independence Movement consists of international work. Cuba represents an ally to achieve the sovereignty and independence of the Puerto Rican nation.

Before concluding the exchange, Pérez Vega sent a message to the people of Cuba for their selfless help to their brother country.

The members of the Hostosian National Independence Movement donated school supplies and sports equipment to the educational institution that demonstrate the brotherhood that exists between the Antillean nations.

Every year, Puerto Ricans carry out solidarity exchanges with the Island and come to the Union municipality to learn about the bond between the students and the activities carried out in commemoration of the center’s martyr. (ALH)
