Around 6:30 p.m., an accident occurred in the area known as La Pollera, at the entrance to the “Flor de Cuba” Base Business Unit, in the municipality of Colon.
The vehicle was transporting sweet potatoes from the «Angelina» agricultural unit, located in Perico.
The driver of the vehicle avoided an animal on the road and lost control of it, which caused the truck belonging to the Mexican Sugar Agroindustrial Company to overturn.
Five people were traveling in the vehicle, one next to the driver and another 3 on top of the load.
As a consequence, one of them was trapped under the vehicle and lost his life.
The injured received medical attention at the Mario Muñoz Hospital.
Authorities from the Party, the Government and the Provincial Traffic Directorate and the Ministry of the Interior immediately appeared at the scene.
