Take possession governor and vice governor of the province of Matanzas

The Governor of the province of Matanzas Mario Sabines Lorenzo and the Lieutenant Governor Marieta Poey Zamora took office this Sunday during a solemn act held in the José White Room of the capital city.

In the presence of the representative of the Council of State, Taymi Martínez Naranjo, the official appointment of the highest administrative authorities of the province was made after having obtained more than 95% of the valid votes in the elections of May 28.

During the act in which Division General Andrés González Brito, Chief of the Central Army, and Susely Morfa González, first secretary of the Party in Matanzas, participated, the Provincial Council of People’s Power was established in the province with all its structures at the municipal level.

During a period of five years, these authorities will have the mission of approving and controlling the plan of the economy and the budget of the territory as well as the evaluation of the management of local governments. (ALH)
