A total of seventeen bicycles were donated to pioneers who live in communities of difficult access, belonging to the Turquino Plan in Unión de Reyes, for transfer to educational institutions.
Edisleydis Amaya León, mother of a first-grade girl in the La Lanza community, expresses the benefits that the gift brings and thanks the Revolution for the prioritized attention.
Gloria del Carmen Díaz Acuña, general director of Education in the southern municipality of Matanzas, said that the free delivery was made by the provincial Directorate of Education to children who travel a certain distance in some means of transport and often on foot.
The donation of bicycles represents an economic aid, since the tutors of the children had to pay for a transport for the punctual arrival of the children to school.
«I am very happy to have my bicycle, because that way I can get to school early,» said pioneer Geily Rodríguez Alarcón upon receiving the bicycle.
The delivery favored twelve schoolchildren who attend between third and sixth grades of the educational institution belonging to the settlement of La Lanza, while the remaining five were delivered to pioneers of the Reynaldo Montejo school center, in Hato de Jicarita.
The eyes of little Amanda Saborit Fuentes, from La Lanza, express the joy of having a means of transportation to attend school.
Díaz Acuña stressed that the vehicles can be used during various school years.
For Lázaro Zamora Quiñones, who brought transportation to hard-to-reach communities, it was a surprise to see his little granddaughter with one of the donated bicycles.
The parents thanked the Education sector and the Revolution for the gesture towards the children who live in remote and difficult to access areas.
The area of Plan Turquino is one of the prioritized settlements because it is distant from the villages. The initiative is part of the integral transformation of the entire Unionense terroir and the improvement in the quality of life of the inhabitants who live in one of the oldest municipalities in the country.
