Milagros Muñiz Rodríguez, director of the José Antonio Echeverría Bianchi Birthplace Museum, an institution with the category of National Monument, told the Cuban News Agency that the works will allow the house to look decorated for next October 10, when it will be half a century its declaration as a museum.

The main tasks, divided into several stages, are aimed at improving the condition of the roof, damaged by persistent leaks, and the carpentry, because light construction maintenance was carried out previously but did not resolve the main difficulties, he said.

Conservation will also be given to the family car, currently sheltered in the patio, which constitutes a very striking piece for those who visit the eclectic-style house with a neoclassical base, possessing typical elements of 19th-century Cuban housing and with North American influence.

Muñiz Rodríguez pointed out that the museum will maintain its usual structure, with rooms dedicated to architecture, the family past, and different stages of the life and revolutionary trajectory of Echeverría Bianchi from his childhood, as well as objects of the martyr Fructuoso Rodríguez and a synthesis of the history of Cuban student organizations.

After dedicating a floral offering to the student leader, the people took part in the traditional pilgrimage from the birthplace to the cemetery where his remains rest, in a day presided over by Susely Morfa González, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in Matanzas, and Mario Sabines Lorenzo , governor of the province.

Milagros Muñiz Rodríguez, directora del Museo Casa Natal José Antonio Echeverría Bianchi, institución con categoría de Monumento Nacional, declaró a la Agencia Cubana de Noticias que los trabajos permitirán a la vivienda lucir engalanada de cara al 10 de octubre próximo, cuando se cumplirá medio siglo de su declaración como museo.

Las principales labores, divididas en varias etapas, se orientan a mejorar el estado de la cubierta, dañada por las persistentes filtraciones, y la carpintería, porque con anterioridad se ejecutaron mantenimientos constructivos ligeros pero no resolvieron las principales dificultades, valoró.

También se dará conservación al automóvil de la familia, actualmente resguardado en el patio, que constituye una pieza muy llamativa para quienes visitan la casona de estilo ecléctico de base neoclásica, poseedora de elementos típicos de la vivienda cubana del siglo XIX y con influencia norteamericana.

Muñiz Rodríguez señaló que el museo mantendrá su habitual estructura, con salas dedicadas a la arquitectura, el pasado familiar, y diferentes etapas de la vida y trayectoria revolucionaria de Echeverría Bianchi desde su niñez, además de objetos del mártir Fructuoso Rodríguez y una síntesis de la historia de organizaciones estudiantiles cubanas.

Tras dedicar una ofrenda floral al líder estudiantil, el pueblo protagonizó la tradicional peregrinación desde la casa natal hasta el cementerio donde reposan sus restos, en una jornada presidida por Susely Morfa González, primera secretaria del Partido Comunista de Cuba en Matanzas, y Mario Sabines Lorenzo, gobernador de la provincia.

Carema Sarabia Águila, dirigente de la Federación Estudiantil Universitaria, expresó que a pocos días de la celebración, en diciembre último, del X Congreso de esa organización centenaria fundada por Echeverría Bianchi, los más de 100 mil universitarios cubanos demuestran con acciones cotidianas la vigencia de su legado.
