La unidad matancera de la Empresa Nacional Comercializadora de Medicamentos, ENCOMED, tiene a su cargo la distribución de medicinas e insumos en la red de farmacias y unidades asistenciales de la provincia. Para ello organiza la entrega en 5 circuitos que abastecen a todo el territorio. Un promedio de 500 bultos se despachan a diario, labor que asumen los 26 trabajadores del centro emisor.

ENCOMED Matanzas asume el reto de llevar a sus destinos los diferentes grupos farmacológicos, a pesar de los insuficientes volúmenes. La situación prevé revertirse con el incremento productivo de la industria nacional, a partir de la llegada de las materias primas. (ALH)
